Founder, CEO & Chief Technologist · 1992–2010

The originating engagement — before Allure was a firm, this was the principal's operating company. Founded 1992 in a Mosman Park shed and grown to offices across Sydney, Jacksonville, Boca Raton, London, Denmark, China and Hong Kong. Awarded a US Secret Service contract for a mobile emergency-distress platform for the US president. Sold to Amcom Software in October 2008; Amcom's US operation was acquired by USA Mobility (now Spok) for US$163.3m in 2011. The capital from the 2008 trade sale funded the founding of Allure in 2011.

Engaged for judgement, not capital

A separate strand of work: engagements where the principal was retained for operating judgement rather than an investment. No capital deployed, no shareholding taken — the brief in each case was to help someone else’s shareholders get where they were trying to go. The Omnitronics advisory board and the Azure Healthcare management-consulting role above belong to the same pattern.

Advance Care

Completed

Management Consultant · 2011–12

A Perth-based manufacturer of nurse-call systems for the aged-care and acute-care markets. Retained to review the commercial side of the business — branding, marketing, sales and research and development — and to set out a growth strategy for domestic and New Zealand market share. Also prepared the company’s Commercialisation Australia application. The work drew directly on having taken CommtechWireless through the same growth ceiling in the same category.
