Personal site — full biographical record

Portrait of Nathan Buzza, founder and principal of Allure Capital, in a dark suit.

Operating history

Nathan founded CommtechWireless in 1992. Over sixteen years it grew into a global supplier of medical-grade wireless communications platforms with deployments across fifty-three countries and more than eight thousand customer sites. The business was sold to Amcom in 2008. In 2011, Amcom's US operation was acquired by USA Mobility (now Spok, NASDAQ:SPOK) for US$163.3m.

Subsequent operating engagements include Alcidion (ASX:ALC), where Nathan led the December 2015 reverse takeover as a director of the private company, and served as Executive Director of the listed entity from February 2016 to July 2017; ResApp Health (ASX:RAP), where he served as a Non-Executive Director from December 2017 to March 2020, thirty months before Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) acquired the company by scheme of arrangement on 26 September 2022; and Azure Healthcare (ASX:AZV, now Austco Healthcare, ASX:AHC), where he served as Executive Vice President from 2012 to 2014 while the share price moved from 3.3¢ to 34¢, roughly 10×, before the position was divested.

The Allure mandate

Allure Capital was founded in 2011 with capital from the CommtechWireless exit. It operates as a single-principal family office running two strategies: an active medtech book — direct investments into Australian healthcare-software, medical-device and clinical-technology businesses — and a passive long-term public-markets allocation. I review every active proposal personally and answer my own correspondence. The seven investment criteria have not changed since July 2016 and explain about ninety-five percent of why most proposals don't go further than the first meeting.

Outside the firm

I also operate Illuminati Magic, an electronic-mentalism business serving professional performers across more than eighty countries. The business is unrelated to Allure's healthcare mandate. It's listed here only because it appears on the public record and a research-mode reader should know.
